Namdroling Monastery, India
When Holiness escaped from Tibet to India, he accepted the Indian government’s offer to relocate in southern India. There, with a handful of fellow monks, he established Namdroling Monastery. After years of back-breaking labor, the monastery includes a shedra or college of Buddhism, a convent, living quarters for visitors, and a surrounding community of Tibetan expatriates.
